Search Types

Introduction

The SERP API supports multiple Google search types beyond standard web search. Use the search_type parameter to specify which type of search results you want to retrieve.

INFO - Available Search Types

  • search - Standard web search (default) - includes Google AI Overviews when available
  • news - Google News articles
  • videos - Video search results
  • images - Image search results
  • maps - Google Maps/local business results
  • jobs - Google Jobs listings (title, company, location, salary, apply links), with filters for place, radius, remote, date posted and employment type
  • job - one Google Jobs listing by its job_id (Google Job lookup)
  • ai - Google AI Mode - full AI-generated answers with cited sources

If you want to perform a Google News search, you can use the following example query. This retrieves results specific to news articles based on the specified search term.

curl --location 'https://api.ujeebu.com/serp?results_count=20&search_type=news&search=Donald%20Trump' \
--header 'ApiKey: <API Key>'

The example code provided returns a JSON response formatted as follows:

To search for videos on Google programmatically, use the search_type=videos parameter along with other query parameters like language and results count. Below is an example:

curl --location 'https://api.ujeebu.com/serp?search=Bitcoin&timeout=90000&lang=en&results_count=10&search_type=videos' \
--header 'ApiKey: <API Key>'

The example code provided returns a JSON response formatted as follows:

To search for images on Google programmatically, use the search_type=images parameter along with other query parameters like language and results count. Below is an example:

curl --location 'https://api.ujeebu.com/serp?search=Coffee&timeout=90000&lang=en&search_type=images' \
--header 'ApiKey: <API Key>'

The example code provided returns a JSON response formatted as follows:

You can also perform a Google Maps search by using the search_type=maps parameter. The example below shows how to retrieve map-related results programmatically:

curl --location 'https://api.ujeebu.com/serp?search=Italien%20restaurant&timeout=90000&lang=en&results_count=10&search_type=maps' \
--header 'ApiKey: <API Key>'

The example code provided returns a JSON response formatted as follows:

Use search_type=jobs to get Google Jobs listings for a query. Put the role in the search and the place in location, as a country code or a place name (for example search=data engineer&location=New York, NY), or keep the place in the search text (data engineer jobs new york). Each listing comes with its title, company, location, the site it was found on, the description, highlights, salary and benefit tags, and the links to apply.

curl --location 'https://api.ujeebu.com/serp?search=data%20engineer%20jobs%20new%20york&search_type=jobs&lang=en&location=us' \
--header 'ApiKey: <API Key>'

The example returns a JSON response formatted as follows (trimmed):

Filters and pages for Google Jobs

These parameters work with search_type=jobs only (other search types answer 400):

Parameter Values Notes
location 2-letter country code or a place name, e.g. Austin, TX Works for every search type. Outside English-speaking countries set lang to the country's language (location=Berlin, Germany&lang=de).
radius 1 to 1000 (km) Around the place in location (needs a place name). Google treats it as a preference, not a hard cut-off.
remote true Remote listings only (location "Anywhere").
date_posted today, 3days, week, month Listings posted in that window.
employment_type FULLTIME, PARTTIME, CONTRACTOR, INTERN, TEMPORARY Comma-separated = any of them; also full-time, part-time, contract, internship, temp. Google applies it loosely: check detected_extensions.schedule_type.
curl --location 'https://api.ujeebu.com/serp?search=software%20engineer&search_type=jobs&location=Austin%2C%20TX&radius=50&date_posted=week&employment_type=FULLTIME&remote=true' \
--header 'ApiKey: <API Key>'

More than 10 jobs. Use page (1 to 40, 10 new listings per page, the next page's request in pagination.api.next, 5 credits each) or batch=true&results_count=N (N up to 100): one request, N listings, no duplicates, 5 credits per 10 results requested (results_count=30 costs 15 credits, results_count=100 costs 50; the Ujb-Batch-Pages header gives the pages billed). After the first 10 listings, results can include nearby areas: check each listing's location and detected_extensions.

curl --location 'https://api.ujeebu.com/serp?search=data%20engineer&search_type=jobs&location=Manchester%2C%20England&page=2' \
--header 'ApiKey: <API Key>'
curl --location 'https://api.ujeebu.com/serp?search=data%20engineer&search_type=jobs&location=Manchester%2C%20England&batch=true&results_count=100' \
--header 'ApiKey: <API Key>'

extra_params still adds other Google query parameters to the Google URL; the parameters above replace the older extra_params values for jobs (&chips=date_posted:..., &ltype=1).

Google Job lookup

Use search_type=job to fetch one listing again by its job_id. Send the job_id from a jobs result and, in search, the listing's title, company_name and location from that result (Google no longer resolves an id alone; with a bare keyword in search the lookup answers 404 "Job not found"). location and lang are optional: use the values of the original search. 5 credits; no pagination; batch is not supported.

curl --location 'https://api.ujeebu.com/serp?search_type=job&job_id=lLDdeFC-oECW78XgAAAAAA%3D%3D&search=Experienced%20Event%20Barista%20%7C%20%2425%E2%80%93%2435%2Fhr%20Johnny%20Beans%20Austin%2C%20TX&location=Austin%2C%20TX' \
--header 'ApiKey: <API Key>'

The response has the listing in job (same fields as a jobs item, without position) and metadata (trimmed):

When the listing is gone the API answers 404 {"error": "Job not found."}. For a remote listing (location "Anywhere"), put remote in search instead of the location and use a country code as location, not a place name.

Google AI Mode provides full AI-generated answers to questions, complete with cited sources. Use search_type=ai to access this feature. The API waits for Google's AI streaming response to complete before returning results.

TIP - AI Mode vs Google AI Overviews

AI Mode (search_type=ai) returns a full-page AI-generated answer - similar to asking a question to an AI assistant. Google AI Overviews are automatically included in standard web search results (search_type=search) when Google shows one. It appears in the ai_overview field alongside organic results.
